It’s probably a false promise of spring, but one couldn’t help but be cheered by the day when I arrived in Dorset this morning. Opening up the shuttered house for the first time since I left on Boxing Day, the brilliant sunshine streamed in and the Parsonage, well, breathed in the warm clear air. Birdsong from the valley and a sense of optimism humming in the sky.
Green shoots in the garden turn attention to the catalogues from seed merchants which are arriving on our door mats this month. Spring is not here yet – I suspect there will be more cold snaps on the way – but it is time to think about getting prepared.
We reopen the shop tomorrow and the year sort of feels like it is starting now. A little late, but better late than never!
