I arrived in Dorset this afternoon to find a bleached, white, silent landscape… and felt I had entered a dream. Nothing moved in the valley. The village has been completely cut off for days.
Later, at dusk, I took some pictures of the Parsonage, blanketed in snow.
This evening, as every year, the whole village went down to my landlord’s house to drink mulled wine and sing carols by the fire – a perfect evening and a brilliant night to arrive. It’s a two hour drive from London: but it feels like a hundred years away.
I don’t know about you, but I am rather looking forward to Christmas 2010. I hope you and your family have managed safely to get to where you need to be.
