An X frame form, 'curule' chair, after a design on plates xx, numbers 3 & 4 in Household Furniture.
The pattern was described by Hope as 'after the manner of the ancient curule chairs'.
This one is ebonised with reeded arms, backs and legs with a ring turned H stretchers.
It has an upholstered back and seat.
Stamped 'M' to the underside and most likely by W.J Mansell of Fulham Road, London.
