Liberal, Nobel & Generous
A lion in antiquity is seen to portray the Roman people as well as the strength and sovereignty of the Roman Empire.
Aristotle describes the lion in his Historia Animalium as a ‘liberal, noble and generous’ creature. Associated with power, its ferocious nature was thought to protect the bearer from the Evil Eye.
This two part hand cast, felt backed jesmonite paperweight was made in Bridie's central London workshop by Bridie. Made in tiny batches of five or six at a time. No two are ever the same.
Dimensions: length 11cm x width 8cm x height 1.5cm.
