Handmade Vintage Suzani Throw

Rich and precious, Suzani fabrics are originally from central Asia. “Suzani” derives from the Anatolian word ""suzan"" for ""needle"" and refers to bright cotton embroidered wall hangings and bedspreads that adorned homes of people on festive occasions.

Both beautiful and useful, Suzanis typically took months for 1-2 individuals to complete.

There are variations in the shade of the thread used to embroider this, as is commonly seen in older suzanis that were made for personal use in people’s homes. Embroidery on a cotton base. While this suzani is in wonderful condition, there are small stains and signs of wear on this suzani, that are to be expected with vintage pieces.
