Pencil and watercolour. There’s a gentleness to this portrayal: an incoming tide and a small bay. Above this, agricultural fields and a white-washed cottage, and further still the mountains. The vantage point allows us to see the striations of the water which capture both the light and colour differentiation. This is John Nash in his element, surrounded by the beauty of an English bay with incoming tide.
