LAWRA: Natural Floor Storage Basket with Handles - Large

Introduce texture and calm to the home with a LAWRA floor basket. These round woven baskets bring a rural feel to your storage needs in warm natural tones. Fill with kindling and logs, toys, laundry, or rugs and throws – these baskets are enduring and versatile – and perfect for decluttering!  

Each one of these unique, floor baskets take up to three days to weave by hand, using veta vera grass which produces baskets of excellent structural balance and durability. This indigenous grass is hand picked from the tip, hand-rolled and dyed in boiling water before being woven by a skilled member of our partner weaving cooperative in Northern Ghana.

Agricultural work is the mainstay of most of these Ghanaian weavers’ incomes, but the pervasive dry season makes it increasingly difficult for families to meet school fees and medical bills. Basket weaving brings opportunity to earn a flexible and valuable second income. Each small woven basket comes with a thank you card from the weaving cooperative that made yours.
