All of The Basket Room’s sisal rugs are woven on a hand loom by our artisan partner Bernard, in his workshop in rural Kenya. Our handwoven floor mats are woven from sisal, a fibrous grass. After the leaves are split, rolled and hand dyed, Bernard carefully works the fibres through his loom, creating a fine, flat, and strong weave. The Basket Room is privileged to partner with Bernard, their expert rug weaver. He weaves their sustainable sisal rugs on a hand loom in his workshop in rural Kenya. The Basket Room's ethically produced, handwoven floor mats are woven from sisal, a strong, fibrous grass.
