Fragrance Notes

The balmy, zingy, lemon herbal top notes of true English Melissa etherealise on a base of woods, roots and resin. This is a complex and soul-singing exercise in all-natural fragrance making, and possibly the greatest scent in our original line-up. It is a very English fragrance, full of nature and craft.

Genuine Melissa is one of those perfume materials that has become extraordinarily rare. After scouring the world for reputable suppliers we discovered the Googer family in Norfolk right on our doorstep! We think they must be Europe's only current Melissa producer, and their 2024 vintage (essential oil) is a stunning example full of intense, complex variagated lemon herbal notes, which settle into a dominant sweet lemon balm which is calming, so beautiful and quite addictive.

Bottle Notes

Elevate any room in your house with these heavy Italian glass bottles, illustrated by English Artist Joel Lardner. The image depicts a Beaver. Foundry Formulas is on the site of an ancient mill and we have water running all around us. In the last 5 years populations of beavers have moved on to the River Frome and we are delighted to see these formerly rare animals  regularly. Our bottle celebrates their return.
