Wilmington Giant by Eric Ravilious

From a watercolour on paper, 1939. The Wilmington Giant near Wilmington, South Downs, Sussex, is one several prehistoric figures cut into the turf of chalk hillsides. Ravilious painted the chalk figures in the period before and after the outbreak of the Second World War.
